eyesign by ian j platt a personal view

inbred racing eye this is my own personal opinion
like many my first introduction to eyesign was the s.w.e. bishop book
which i find confusing to say the least
if a pigeon was dominant then sureley all its children would have the same type of eye this clearly is not the case
in the 80s i was gifted a pigeon by the late tom swires of summerbridge yorks a truly ace pigeon flyer
this pigeon was a 1982 bred verheye cock from louella stock and tom said he had been told this pigeon had a green eye
i entered him in a local show judged by brian vickers and the pigeon won 4th prize
i spoke at length to brian and he told me about his research into pigeons eyes

i was a journalist for the b.h.w. at this time and often took brian with me on loft reports and he always amazed me by picking out the top racers and breeders
i went to belgium with frank quinlan and brian and visited many lofts we visited the loft of gaston devooght and brian picked out the national winner and all the top breeders and gaston signed a statement to say brian was 100% correct in his evaluations
brian became in great demand and was doing loft visits all over europe he published his book eyesign evaluation in racing pigeons that has been sold worldwide
